Just as a reference, I want to try to explain my rating system throughout my description of this boat. At the end of the description, I try to give an "overall" rating. This rating is a number on a scale of 1 to 10. A 1 would describe a boat that you would find in a local outside junk yard that is completely full of deterioration, contamination, and damage. A 10 would describe a brand new boat or yacht with zero hours on it and basically right off the showroom floor. So a good condition boat that has had average use and care, would be somewhere between a 6 and 8.

This 2006 Skeeter 20I is in exceptional condition. With only 136 hours, this boat looks, feels, and runs like brand new. This boat has been stored indoors and it clearly shows. The finish on this Skeeter is very nice. The color combination is very nice too. She shines great and the trailer is in excellent condition too. Everything on this Bass Boat works perfectly and I believe there is still factory warranty left on the boat and motor too. The motor runs like a top and we did pull the plugs and do a compression test on every cylinder. The results of the compression test are as follows;

Batteries are fully charged and ready for the water.give me a call and let's take her out and see for yourself how nice this boat is. The factory Skeeter trailer is in great condition as well and comes with the rear straps and Factory Aluminum Spare wheel. Please take a long look at all the pictures I have posted of this boat. There are over 60 pictures so you can feel like you are here inspecting this boat yourself. If you have any specific questions, feel free to give me a call.

My Overall rating for this 2006 Skeeter 20i as a whole is a 9 out of 10.

The Skeeter 20i is the builders latest effort in maximizing passenger comforts and fishability in a bass boat. A purpose built boat with one taskcatching fish in protected waters the Skeeter 20is designers have an enviably succinct mission statement to focus on. The 20i is not only a very fast boat, but also is extremely (and surprisingly) smooth riding and controllable at speeds exceeding 70 mph.

The Skeeter 20i is constructed using an isophthalic DCPD blend resin, which has great cosmetic properties as well as osmotic blistering resistance throughout the laminate. The hull bottom and sides are solid fiberglass, using a mix or woven and non woven reinforcements. Running strakes are solid fiberglass, not filled with putty. The one piece fiberglass stringer/grid is flanged and bonded to the hull skin using a two part adhesive. It supports and stiffens the hull, and carries the deck above. The stringers meet at the bow, a design which helps minimize hull wracking in this low freeboard hull. Outboard of the full length molded stringers is another pair of hull supports running forward 8 ft. from the transomthese additional stringers reduce hull bottom skin panel sizes.

The transom is a composite of fiberglass skins and 2 in. Divinycell foam core. This in turn is supported by aluminum knees which are through bolted both to the transom and also to 1/2 in. thick aluminum plates through bolted to the side of the main stringers. This aluminum structure absorbs and transmits engine thrust and weight loads (which are magnified by the lever arm created by the jack plate hanging off the transom) directly and reliably to the primary hull structure. The great thing about the aluminum is what you see is what you getthere is no wondering if secondary bonds are going to hold under high peel loads where the knee meets the transom.

The boats deck (or floor) is made of a single sheet of CNC cut, black powder coated aluminum plate supported by welded aluminum supports. The many deck hatches are also aluminum, therefore this is a great choice of material since it provides a consistent assembly of fixed deck and movable hatches. The deck design also permits easy fuel tank change out in the unlikely event the fuel tank needs replacing (its unlikely because its a polyethylene tank, which cant corrodeif properly supported and protected from chaffing, it will last as long as the boat).

The carpeting is glued to the aluminum deck. Carpeting is preferred by the bass fishing market since it is comfortable underfoot, provides a good nonskid walking surface, its easy to clean with a hose, and when the time comes, it is reasonably easy to replace with the right tools. The shoebox hull to deck joint has a two part adhesive applied around the perimeter, then it is clamped with self tapping screws on 3 in. centersthese screws are nylon coated, which prevents them from backing out over time. However, since the adhesive is used to bond the hull and deck, their presence becomes somewhat superfluous.

The Skeeter 20i has a modified vee hull, with a deep forefoot (it extends below the boats baseline) and radius chines and spray strakes all contribute to an extremely smooth and solid ride. This boats ride in a light chop compares favorably to many saltwater center consoles. This is a substantial achievement for such a low deadrise hull. Stern sponsons outboard add buoyancy at rest, helping to support the weight of the engine cantilevered past the stern, improving astern performance by adding buoyancy early as waves and wake approach the transom, and adding form stability to reduce list when passengers walk from one side of the boat to the other. The added lift and buoyancy of the sponsons also improve acceleration by reducing bow rise coming on plane, letting the engine focus more on forward thrust and less on vertical lift.

Similar to all bass boats, the Skeeter 20is design includes flat casting areas forward and aft, with a recessed cockpit with helm console and seating in the middle. At the bow is the electric trolling motor, which raises and lowers on an aluminum frame, as well as a pedestal fishing seat from which the motor can be controlled. The Yamaha may also be raised and lowered in the stern, and theres a handy fish finder.

Just aft are 4 large storage compartments (rod boxes, day box and lockable storage lockers) under deck hatchesthese aluminum deck hatches comprise the majority of the forward deck area, which says something about the sheer volume of storage space in this boat.

The cockpit has 3 seats, with a cooler under the center seat. The seats are thickly cushioned and contoured to offer lateral support as well as comfort. The port console has a very large glove box and a small windscreen. To starboard is the helm console with its tilt wheel and mechanical engine control. A fish finder has prominence on the dash, and is surrounded by engine gauges. Skeeters Digital Multifunction System acts as a control center for the boats systems, including livewell controls. The single on off switch acts as a battery switch.

Aft of the cockpit are the livewells and a mechanical compartment with batteries, bilge pump, and engine VRO tank. A 12 in. fixed jackplate is standard, as are four 6 in. pop up cleats.

The test ride took place in a light chop (4 in. to 8 in.) on Lake Champlain with a 1/2 tank of gas and 1 passenger. As expected of a 1,850 lb. boat with a 250 hp 2 stroke outboard, acceleration is like that of a pocket rocket. Acceleration is also very strong, from 4000 rpm to full throttle 5700 rpm.

The Skeeter had an exceptionally good ride in the light chop. It sliced through those little waves without a hint of pounding, just knifing through the waves without ado. The boat also felt very solid, as if it were a lot heavier than its actual weight. The boat made it to just above 70 mph, and the feeling was one of complete controlthere was no hint that the boat was on the edge of controllability at that high speed. It tracks like its on rails, and when a wave throws the boat off a few degrees, it tends to find its way back to the original heading with little helm input. The Skeeter is truly exceptional.

The boat ran best with the engine trimmed up almost all the way to tilt mode. The same trim had the boat porpoising a bit at 35 to 40 mph (just drop the trim slightly to solve that problem), but it was steady as a rock at 45 mph plus. Hanging the 539 lb. Yamaha 12 in. aft of the transom obviously pays off in terms of weight distributionboats need their center of gravity further aft as maximum speed increases.

The speeds registered on the test ride were with a light loadone 250 lb. driver and 1/2 tank of gas. Loading the boat down another 750 or so lbs. will slow down the boat commensurately (figuring another passenger weighing up to 250 lbs., another 1/2 tank of gas (150 lbs.), 30 gallons in the livewells (240 lbs.) and assorted fishing tackle and food (100 plus lbs.).

Since the test ride took place in a driving rain, the lack of a windshield was noticed. This boat is clearly designed to be driven sitting down, a necessity due to the boats very low profile and low cockpit height. The wheel and throttle are right where they should be for comfortable reach and feel, and the foot throttle is also well positioned.

The Minn Kota Max 80F electric trolling motor gets the job done, pulling the boat from the bow soundlessly. The foot pedal was uncomfortable when turning to port, since pushing the heel down turns the motor to port, and pushing the toe down turns the motor to starboard. The port turn requires the heel down, and at the same time pressure is needed on the toe, where the on off switch is located to keep the propeller turning.
